How to... Look after tropical fish...

I bought some new tropical fish to put in my aquarium yesterday. Three 'mollies' and a dwarf gourami, to pair up with the one i already had. They bring the grand total of fish in my tank to 15. The tank now looks nice and full....

How to care for tropical fish...
Do's and don't's
  • NEVER buy fish from a tank with a dead fish in, you never know if they died of an infectious disease.
  • Don't have a tank without a filter and heater. gold fish can live with only a filter, but tropical fish need a heater to survive.
  • Don't forget to clean the tank once a week or it wiil get all clogged up with fish poo and that isnt a very good enviroment for your fish, is it?
  • Don't buy a mix of male and female fish if you dont want any chance of them breeding

  •  Do Clean the filter out once a month and replace the fliter media once a year. This will keep the filter working properly.
  • Do remember to feed them twice a day with flake or pellet fish food.
  • Do supplement their diet with treats such as frozen or live food.
  • Do ask the people in the pet shop for advice, they can normally help you with pretty much any problem.
There you go ...
